See my piece The Antidote at Studio Montclair in the juried Viewpoints exhibition. From Studio Montclair about the show: “Each year, Studio Montclair invites artists to submit their work covering an expansive range of subjects, approaches, and mediums, using both traditional and contemporary forms of visual creativity, providing a vibrant window into the breadth of talent within New Jersey and beyond.

JUROR: Jeanne Brasile

Jeanne Brasile is currently the Executive Director at the Hunterdon Art Museum. She has curated exhibitions at Index Art Center, SITE Festival/Arts in Bushwick, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, The Walsh Gallery at Seton Hall University and the Tony Smith Sculpture Project. She earned her B.A. in art history/studio art from Ramapo College of New Jersey and her M.A. in Museum Studies at Seton Hall University. Brasile’s curatorial practice is focused on working with emerging and mid-career artists in non-profit venues. She is particularly engaged in developing exhibitions outside the white cube with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches to curating and art-making. This approach is enhanced by her roles as an educator, arts advocate, writer and artist. She is most interested in developing exhibitions that engage non-traditional audiences while challenging viewers to re-think their perceptions about art and the role of the museum/gallery.”

The Big Gay Art Show

I have two collages in this annual show. These analog collages are companion pieces to a film inspired by touring the former homes of Susan B. Anthony and Jane Addams and witnessing the erasure of their queerness, despite documentary evidence about their intimate relationships with other women.  The series uses a phrase from a letter from Susan B. Anthony to one of her lovers inviting her to her bed and longing for "the scolding and pinched ears and everything I know awaits me" and literalizes the phrase in an humorous and affectionate way.  A background of yellow wallpaper draws on the themes of constraint within patriarchy explored in Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper.  Audio snippets from Adrienne Rich’s poem Wallpaper are repurposed to underscore the historical silences around women’s intimate lives.  Excerpts from love letters tell an overlooked story of queerness.  Catch the show anytime throughout the month of June in the Sedona Arts Center’s Special Exhibits Gallery.

From the Sedona Arts Center: “Sedona Arts Center proudly presents our annual, The Big Gay Art Show — a vibrant juried exhibition celebrating creative expression from the rainbow communities and their allies. This much-anticipated show invites artists of all backgrounds, levels, and mediums to share their voice through visual art.

Originally conceptualized in 2012 by a small group of artists and supporters — some connected to Sedona Arts Center and others from the Sedona Pride organization — the show began as a platform to uplift and include the rainbow community in the local arts scene. Since then, it has grown into a beloved annual event, welcoming hundreds of emerging and professional artists to Sedona.

Now produced fully by Sedona Arts Center at the request of Sedona Pride, the exhibition continues to provide a dynamic and positive venue for connection, visibility, and artistic celebration.

Opening Reception: Friday, June 5, 2026 from 4p-6p at Celebrate Sedona.”

Collage on Screen

Two of my animated collage short films debut at Kolajfest this year in New Orleans as part of the Collage on Screen event: “Collage on Screen, an eclectic evening of moving images, is part of Kolaj Institute’s Collage in Motion project. Collage on Screen, part of Kolaj Fest New Orleans 2026, is an eclectic evening of moving images. Collage on Screen is a project of Kolaj Institute that explores collage and the moving image, a broad, loosely defined category that includes animations, film cut-ups, collage film, stop-motion, documentaries about collage artists, and other forms of media in which collage–as medium or genre–is present. This year’s presentation will show the feature-length film, The Inquisitor, by New Orleans, Louisiana artist and filmmaker Angela Lynn Tucker. The program begins with a series of short films made by participants in Kolaj Institute’s 2025 Collage on Screen Artist Residency: Jennifer Myhre‘s (Sedona, Arizona) A Wonderful Opportunity for You and The Ear Pinchers; Apple Eye and Trinkets by Kingston, New York-based artist Sui Jenneris; Feeding the Birds by award-winning playwright Kate Lavut (Montreal, Quebec); FLOCK by Chicago, Illinois poet and artist Jennifer Roche; and the stop-motion animation Gain of Function: Hope by Emily Denlinger (Cape Girardeau, Missouri). Admission to Collage on Screen is free for those registered for Kolaj Fest New Orleans 2026. A limited number of tickets is available for the general public at $10.00.” You can get tickets here.

Week-long Summer creativity camp for kids age 6-8

I am offering a summer camp for children ages 6-8 called We Are All Creative that will run Monday through Thursday from 1-4pm July 6-9 at the Sedona Arts Center.

Kids will learn and have fun exploring creative tools and techniques we can use at home with commonly found materials, with a lot of support and an embrace of experimentation and mistakes.  We don’t need to want to be an artist to make things with our hands and have the joy of creativity in our daily lives.  In this camp, we’ll learn how to make interesting textures through mark-making and repetition, how to make and use stencils, the basics of printmaking including making our own stamps and monoprints, and strategies for making collage.  Throughout we’ll analyze and practice basic composition principles and develop our storytelling and meaning making skills.  Each student will leave with a fun body of work.

Stamp Making to Customize Your Clothing (And Other Stuff!)

Join me at the Sedona Arts Center to learn the basics of relief printing by carving your own stamps to decorate and personalize fabric and clothing. We’ll learn how to use carving tools, how to transfer images we want to carve onto soft blocks, and how to print our stamps onto both paper and fabric.  We’ll also experience the meditative and visual power of repetition and pattern. You don’t need to have previous printmaking or drawing skills to enjoy this workshop! All of the carving and printing materials will be provided, but you should bring fabric items that you might want to print on, such as spare tote bags or tshirts (ideally nothing you’re too attached to, since these will be for practice!). This class is for ages 16 and up. Register for the class here.

Protest: The Art of Activism

See these works of mine in the group exhibition at Not Shockboxx in LA between March 21 and April 4, as well as many other powerful statements of resistance.

From Not Shockboxx about the show:

Revolution Is Not a Spectator Sport

Protest has always been a catalyst for artistic expression. From public dissent to personal resistance, protest art gives voice to injustice, demands change, and documents moments of social reckoning.

Protest: The Art of Activism is a group exhibition centered on the urgent need—not just the desire—to resist systems, policies, and power structures that cause harm. This show exists in direct response to what is happening in America and other places around the world, as people take to the streets to defend bodily autonomy, human rights, immigrant lives, queer and trans existence, racial justice, and collective freedom.

Sedona Fall of Freedom

Join the Fall of Freedom Sedona event on Saturday November 22 from 9:30am-11:30am in the New Room at 110 Indian Cliffs Road.  Earlier this fall, a group of artists made an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces and threats to free expression in a nationwide weekend of creative resistance called Fall of Freedom.  Here in Sedona and the Verde Valley, we will read poetry together aloud for celebration and solace. If you don’t have a favorite, there will be choices available for you when you arrive. And then we’ll get our hands dirty to make a banner together. Whether you are an artist or not, you are welcome.  Bring a friend.  If you believe that art matters and is a threat to fascism, join this national expression of creativity.  RSVP here. This event is free.

Exhibit: Art to Survive and Resist Authoritarianism

  • Great Hall, Fleming College’s Haliburton School of Art and Design (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

On view in the Great Hall are the works from the folio “Art to Resist & Survive Authoritarianism”, which was created as a result of Kolaj Institute’s virtual residency, Collage in Politics: The Authoritarian Regime Survival Guide, which took place in January and February 2025. I have several works in this show. Artists in the residency worked together to illustrate and elucidate The Authoritarian Regime Survival Guide, a text written by Martin Mycielski, the Vice-President and Executive Director of the Brussels-based Open Dialogue Foundation. Based on the Polish experience, The Authoritarian Regime Survival Guide offers its readers information and tools for recognizing and resisting authoritarianism. In a clear series of lists, the Guide lays out what to expect in a society being led by an authoritarian regime, rules for surviving such a regime, and strategies for engaging with authoritarian supporters. The folio consists of twenty-six, 15”x11”, collage prints on 100lb Strathmore Bristol Vellum paper in an edition of 5, plus one A/P.

Participating artists include Heather Wright (Elgin, Minnesota, USA), Heather Wishik (Woodstock, Vermont, USA), Lori Petchers (Fairfield, Connecticut, USA), Suzanne Gore (Boise, Idaho, USA), Andrea J. Lee (Fenelon Falls, Ontario, Canada), Jennifer Myhre (Sedona, Arizona, USA), and Olivia Baldacci (New York, New York, USA).

More Art Less Fear Workshop: Can't Draw? Don't Let That Stop You!

Maybe an adult told you when you were a child that your drawing was terrible or thought the dog you drew was a dinosaur. Maybe, like me, you never had any exposure to arts during your K-12 education. No matter what’s got you intimidated, I can offer you experiences with art-making that are playful and empowering, but also offer clear guidance on tools and techniques to get you started.  We’ll focus on things you can try in your own home using accessible materials, with a lot of scaffolding and an embrace of mistakes.  It’s hard to feel fear and despair when you’re actively making things!  You can take these workshops stand-alone or as a series.  Can’t Draw?  Don’t Let That Get In Your Way will be an introduction to printmaking using gelli plates and stamps. Sign up at the Art Paint Draw website.

Exhibit: Big Orange Monster

Exhibit: Big Orange Monster

I have one work in this show. From the Kolaj Institute: “At the heart of this exhibition at Kolaj Institute Gallery in New Orleans is collage made and sent to the gallery in response to an open call to artists: “You mix fear (yellow) and anger (red) and you get a Big Orange Monster. What’s the emergency? There are a lot of Big Orange Monsters on the loose. Monsters only have power if you are afraid of them. So let’s create a space where we can slay our fear of Big Orange Monsters. Art helps us exorcise our demons. Monsters can be glorious and wonderful or horrible and evil. Let’s not cast aside the good Big Orange Monsters because some other Big Orange Monsters are well…unpleasant.”

Artists sent 128 collages from 13 countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mexico, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and the United States. Nine artists from New Orleans contributed works to the exhibition. We ask visitors to the gallery to take care and not feed the monsters, some of which have been installed behind a protective iron gate for everyone’s safety.

These are not normal times: Of the 128 collages sent, five monsters are trapped at international borders due to the effects of the current administration’s tariff policies.
